We're all cousins

There's a lot of nonsense about "race" out there. I've long known it was nonsense, but I've never seen it explained so clearly as by Steve Olson in the LA Times, in an article with what some might consider the provocative title, "We're all Jesus' children."

As the subtitle puts it: "The DaVinci Code got its genealogy wrong. If anyone's descended from Jesus, it's all of us."

I haven't read the article yet, but since every amateur genealogist seems to claim descent from Charlemagne, I'm not all that surprised. You just have to link the Carolingians to the Merovingians as genetic heirs, rather than dynastic successors (or, I suppose, maybe, usurpers consiliio et consensu omnium francorum), and Bob's your uncle. Oh ... Bob is my uncle...
